In the United States, the state-sponsored Mega Millions is one of the largest lotteries in the world. The jackpot is nearly $1.5 billion and can be won by matching all five numbers from the correct grid. In addition, the game includes several other smaller prizes that can be won by matching fewer numbers or matching certain symbols. The winnings can be withdrawn in cash or used to purchase additional tickets.
The New Zealand national lottery, officially known as Lotto New Zealand, was established in 1987. It replaced two previous national lotteries: the Art Union and Golden Kiwi. The majority of its proceeds are allocated to charitable and community organizations through the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board, an autonomous Crown entity. Some of the allocations are distributed to Sport and Recreation New Zealand, Creative New Zealand and the New Zealand Film Commission.
