Lottery online is not just about numbers and winning, but about people coming together in a shared dream and the hope of a life-altering fortune. Even if the prize doesn’t materialize, lottery participation fosters optimism and hopes, and it can have a positive impact on the economy through spending. It is a revenue generator for organizers, an economic stimulus, and a source of entertainment. And though the odds of winning are slim, the lottery is one of the only ways to have a shot at becoming rich.

The thai lotto (Thai: , RTGS: salak kin baeng) is a government-sanctioned national lottery run by the Government Lottery Office (GLO). It takes place twice a month on the first and sixteenth of every month, and is one of the only two forms of legal gambling in Thailand. It is played by over 19 million Thais, or 28.6% of the country’s native population.

Tickets for the thai lotto are pre-printed, include a variety of anti-counterfeiting features, and can only be purchased in ticket pairs. Each ticket pair costs 80 baht. The first prize is a cash prize of B2 million, while the second and third prizes are cash prizes of B3 million and B4 million respectively. GLO used to offer a jackpot prize of B30 million for matching six digits, but that was scrapped after the military government took power in May 2014. GLO also offers a charity lottery called TCL (Thailand Lottery Limited). This lottery is similar in nature to the thai lotto, but it is different in that it has no cash prize.
