While the Lao government is attempting to take action, it is far from clear what impact this will have on the industry as a whole. In the meantime, it seems like it will be a long road until a more regulated gambling environment in Laos shapes up. The special economic zones set up by the government are a step in the right direction, but it will be some time before they have an impact on the overall gambling industry in the country.
