These are administered by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, a consortium of five regional lottery corporations owned by their respective provincial/territorial governments: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), and Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut). The Canadian government also permits privately run lotteries. In addition, players can purchase tickets for foreign lotteries and sports pools through internet retailers. This is permitted under the terms of the Criminal Code of Canada, which was amended in 1967.
