The offices of the prime minister have sent a directive asking the ministry to work with the police to better manage the lottery, according to sources who spoke to RFA’s Lao service. They added that the private business interests involved in the lottery should not be allowed to hold the responsibility, because the drawings can’t be trusted.
In the past, lottery tickets were only sold in local shops. Now, they are available on the Internet and over the phone. In fact, some websites even allow you to win cash and other prizes simply by answering a series of questions. Some websites are dedicated to a specific lottery, while others offer multiple lotteries. Some of these websites have been around for decades, but some have only recently launched.
