Lao authorities are taking action to regulate online lotteries being sold in the country, Finance Minister Bounchom Ubonpaseuth told lawmakers. Illegal lotteries based in foreign countries such as Vietnam are being sold as many as four times a day in the nation, and investors must be encouraged to invest in systems that can trace those who are selling them, Mr Bounchom said.
Dokkeo, who has a three-year-old and one-year-old, plans to share her lottery winnings with her family, including buying a new house, and travel — “South Korea, Japan, Vietnam.” She says she’s been inundated with phone calls, text messages and Facebook notifications since the news of her win broke.
She adds she would also devote some of her winnings to the poor and needy. Reported by Ounkeo Souksavanh for RFA’s Lao Service. Editing by Richard Finney.
