The website also supports charitable projects and organizations domestically and internationally. Lottery Online is a subsidiary of the International Lottery Foundation (ILLF), a government-authorized and state-controlled charitable foundation that pioneered Internet lottery services in 1995.

In the communist country of Laos, a number of lottery officials have been accused of rigging the system to avoid large pay-outs for winning tickets. Drawings of the national lottery, held three times a week, sometimes show numbers that disappear from purchased tickets or are deemed unlucky and unlikely to win, sources tell RFA’s Lao Service.
Lao deputy finance minister and state lottery supervisor Sila Viengkeo says accusations of rigged drawings are false and that the ministry is working to address the problem. He has not yet outlined the measures he will take to ensure transparency.

In addition, the New Zealand Lottery Commission is a statutory Crown entity that distributes lottery profits directly to charities and community groups through an allocations process managed by the Lottery Grants Board.
