The New Zealand government operates the country’s national lottery through an autonomous Crown entity called Lotto New Zealand. Lottery profits are distributed by the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board to charities and community organizations. Sport and Recreation New Zealand, the Creative New Zealand and the New Zealand Film Commission are statutory bodies that receive a portion of the lottery allocation. Winnings from the Lotto are not taxed in New Zealand.
