Selling lottery tickets is one of the few options for poor Vietnamese people to make a living. The social security systems in Vietnam are not yet able to handle the large number of less fortunate citizens. In fact, for many people, lottery tickets are their only source of income. For Huong, a single mother from Saigon, lottery ticket selling is the only way she and her husband can support their baby. On good days she can sell up to 230 000 VN-Dong per day, which is about 10 US-Dollars. On bad days, however, she only makes 180 000 VN-Dong.
