Lottery online is the practice of selling lottery tickets on-line. It has become a major source of revenue for many lotteries. A large number of people in Vietnam choose to sell lottery tickets to make a living. The social security systems of the country aren’t able to cope with the number of poor citizens. Therefore, most of them prefer selling lottery tickets over the socially detested act of begging. On lucky days, a lottery ticket seller can make up to 230 000 VN-Dong (10 US-Dollars) per day.
In the case of Huong, a pregnant mother from Saigon, lottery tickets are her main source of income. She and her husband work 16-hour shifts each day. They start their day at 5 am, with a small breakfast of rice and vegetable soup, and end it at 9 pm after their last sale. They have two daughters, and the money they make from selling tickets allows them to have a roof over their heads and food on the table.
