Hanoi Lotto Laos lottery officials are rigging the national lottery in an attempt to avoid paying out large sums of money, sources in the communist country tell RFA. Drawings sometimes display numbers that disappear from purchased tickets, or that are deemed unlucky or unlikely to be chosen. In one case, the number 509 appeared only as a “random number” on tickets purchased throughout the day of Oct. 14’s drawing—before changing to 134 minutes before the actual drawing was held, a source told RFA.
