The office of Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith recently issued a directive requiring that the Ministry of Finance, which oversees the country’s legal state lottery, work with other government departments to better manage the problem. The directive requires that state lottery drawings be reduced from two to one per week and that winnings be handled in a more transparent manner, sources told RFA’s Lao Service on Aug. 17.
