The majority of lottery profits in New Zealand are used by Sport and Recreation, Creative New Zealand, and the New Zealand Film Commission. These statutory bodies operate independently of the Lottery Grants Board, which distributes its allocations to charities and community organizations. The remaining lottery funds are distributed to the New Zealand Community Foundation, which uses them to support a variety of community-based projects.
