Lottery Online

Lottery Online

Lottery online is an Internet-based service that allows players to purchase lottery tickets and participate in online games. Online games offer a variety of prizes, including cash and vacations. The most common games are keno and video lottery terminals (slot machines in all but name). In the United States, most state lotteries have websites that allow players to purchase tickets and play games on their computer or mobile phone. In addition, several privately owned companies have begun offering online lottery-style games.

The most popular state lotteries are the Illinois State Lottery, the Pennsylvania State Lottery, the New Jersey State Lottery and the Florida State Lottery. All of these have websites where players can purchase tickets and view winning numbers, though only the official results are controlling.

In Canada, the provincial/territorial governments run their own lotteries. The government of Quebec introduced the instant ticket in 1967, followed by the Canadian national lotteries in September 2009. Unlike the US, where online gaming rules are restrictive, Canada permits the sale of “lottery-style” games on the Internet. The Interprovincial Lottery Corporation oversees the operation of these games.

Laos’ state lottery is being rigged, according to RFA’s sources in the Southeast Asian country. The drawing process has been tampered with, resulting in losing numbers appearing on purchased tickets or disappearing from the screen when they are drawn. The company running the national lottery is not transparent and does not answer RFA’s questions about its operations. Its business interests include the families of Lao political leaders, including former prime minister Thongsing and president Khamtay Siphandone.

For many poor Vietnamese people, selling lottery tickets is their only source of income. They prefer it to the socially detested act of begging. On a good day, a lottery ticket seller can make up to 230 000 VN-Dong ($10 US-Dollars). Huong, a single mother from Saigon, sells tickets for the state-owned lottery, which she buys from local stores at 9 000 VN-Dong per ticket. She and her husband Manh work 16-hour shifts every day to sell their tickets.

In Liechtenstein, the state-owned International Lottery Foundation operates the world’s first Internet Lottery and pioneered the online gaming industry. Its games support charitable projects and organizations domestically and internationally. The ILLF also owns the eLotto brand, which is used by online casinos that accept players from the country. In addition, the eLotto website provides the latest information regarding laws, taxes and regulations for Internet gambling. The eLotto website also features information about current promotions. Players can also play online lotto games, including the EuroMillions, eEuroJackpot and the Spanish Christmas Lottery.
