For example, on Oct. 14 this year, the number 09 vanished from tickets purchased throughout the day before it showed up on the winning ticket during that evening’s drawing.
Private business interests with a stake in the national lottery are also a source of concern. These businesses include companies run by people close to the ruling elite, a source in Laos told RFA. As a result, the national lottery’s results cannot be trusted.
