Laos Lottery is one of the most well-known gambling games in Laos. While gambling is illegal throughout most of Laos, certain Special Economic Zones permit it and online casinos accept players from Laos – typically roulette, poker and blackjack are offered with jackpots reaching into millions of dollars!
The lottery first gained widespread renown in France during the 18th century, where it was used to fund religious congregations. By mid 19th century, however, it had become an essential source of revenue for both government and Church alike; its distribution caused considerable contention; eventually the King decided to regulate and monitor it more strictly – ultimately becoming an integral source of tax revenues and increasing government revenues through taxes paid out as winnings from lottery draws.
Today, there are over 70 state-run and private lotteries operating within the US; as well as many more private ones. Though these lotteries may be major ones, these aren’t the only national games; many other countries host their own national lotteries; some run by federal entities while others are operated locally or by private companies.

The Laos lottery, run by a state-run organization, draws numbers from a large pool of numbered balls and broadcasts the results live via Facebook and TV each time a draw takes place. Recently however, people have begun questioning its legitimacy due to allegations that its governing body of manipulating results; for example in one drawing number 67 was drawn three times consecutively which is seen as unlucky; other suspicious coincidences have also been noted such as where winning numbers frequently repeat week to week; winning numbers often occuring weekly!
Some state officials have raised complaints against the lottery governing body, alleging shenanigans. One official from the finance ministry who serves on its steering committee told RFA he believes more steps will be taken in future to increase transparency; perhaps cutting down to one weekly drawing can make tracking results simpler while eliminating some opportunities for shenanigans.
Laos’ government is taking steps to regulate the sale of foreign lotteries in Laos. According to its finance minister, illegal lotteries from Vietnam, Thailand and China that are sold here four times daily has caused great alarm among his constituents. He has requested a system which can track those selling tickets while taking action against those using false winning numbers in lottery wins.
