He added that government officials are not clear about how much the companies are paying for their annual concession, and that the public is not informed about how the money is being spent.
The Laos lottery’s prize structure is designed to encourage participation by offering significant payouts for matching a sequence of numbers. In the past, for example, those who matched all four of the winning numbers would see their bet multiplied by six million kip. This year the Laos lottery has dropped this prize, but participants can still win a substantial sum for matching two or three numbers, turning 1,000 kip into six million kip.

The company that runs the National Lottery in the UK is Camelot Group, which operates the EuroMillions pan-European lottery.
