In Canada, the national lottery is run by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC). The ILC is a consortium of five regional lotteries owned by their provincial/territorial governments: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut) and British Columbia Lottery Corporation (British Columbia).

Several states in the United States have legalized online lottery gambling. Those who wish to play are required to verify their identity before being allowed to place a bet. The state-run lottery in Liechtenstein is called the International Lottery Foundation (ILLF). New Zealand has a national lottery called Lotto, operated by an autonomous Crown entity, Lottery New Zealand (LNZ). The Lottery Grants Board distributes proceeds directly to community and sporting organizations. Lotto’s profits have helped fund such projects as the Auckland War Memorial Museum, the National Arts Centre and Creative New Zealand.

The winning numbers in the latest Powerball drawing were 5, 28, 62, and 64. The top prize was $1.58 billion. It is the eighth-largest lottery jackpot in history and the second-largest in U.S. history. The winner will be announced on May 29. There are three other top prizes of $340 million, $250 million, and $200 million. The odds of winning are one in 180,000. The top prize will be split between the two people with the winning ticket.
