New Zealand Lottery

Lotteries in New Zealand are regulated by the government through an autonomous Crown entity, Lotto New Zealand. It offers four national lotteries: Lotto, Keno, Bullseye and Instant Kiwi scratch cards. Proceeds from these lotteries are distributed by the Lottery Grants Board to charities and community organizations. These include Sport and Recreation New Zealand, Creative New Zealand and the New Zealand Film Commission.

Canada Lottery

The Canadian government has several provincial and territorial lotteries. Each of these is owned by a consortium of five regional lottery corporations: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut) and British Columbia Lottery Corporation (British Columbia). The five regional lotteries are administered by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation.

Laos Lottery

The government-run lottery in the communist country of Laos is rigged, sources tell RFA’s Lao Service. Drawings in the national lottery frequently show numbers that disappear from purchased tickets or are deemed unlucky, they say. The business interests responsible for the lottery have connections to the country’s ruling elite, and no one inspects their work. A caller to the service asked that the government resume control of the lottery, saying private business interests should not be allowed to manipulate its results.
