The official added that the government should resume control of the national lottery because private business interests cannot be trusted to conduct fair drawings.

In the past, a large portion of the national lottery revenue went to foreign companies, including the British Camelot Group which operates EuroMillions, the largest European lottery. In recent years, Camelot has begun to reduce its involvement in the EuroMillions lottery and has sold its stake in the company to the Spanish firm, GTech Corporation.
Despite these concerns, the lottery industry continues to grow worldwide, with more than 70 percent of all sales coming from on-line transactions, according to GTech.
