A salesman at a lottery station told RFA’s Lao Service that Thailand’s Insee Trading Company that runs the lottery knows which numbers players choose, making it possible for its executives to manipulate the results.
Vilasack Phommaluck, the chairman of the committee that oversees the national lottery, dismissed the allegations. He said the committee double checks the lottery balls before they are used in the drawings. He added that reducing the number of draws to one per week may help make it easier to keep track of results and prevent shenanigans.
