Hanoi Lotto – How to Play the Lottery in Vietnam

hanoi lotto

Hanoi lotto is an extremely popular gambling game in Vietnam, beloved by millions of people who believe winning will bring good fortune and additional cash. There are various methods you can play it; including online platforms offering this service or visiting local lottery shops where tickets can be bought.

Vietlott, Vietnam’s official state lottery, began operations in 2011 amidst an economic boom that brought with it unprecedented disposable income and consumer spending levels. Since then, participation rates in Vietlott have skyrocketed.

State officials have made it a point to emphasize that lottery is not gambling but rather an form of entertainment, and they work to attract new players by offering scratch-to-win tickets and an online version of the game. They also aim to expand where these games can be purchased.

Street sellers are an easy and cheap way to purchase Hanoi lotto. You can usually find one near any major intersection within the city and can purchase tickets at around 10,000 VND per ticket (50 US cents). Street vendors typically make around 10% profit per sale.

Some street sellers are children who have dropped out of school and make enough to support themselves and send some back home. Though living in cramped conditions, these kids remain dedicated to their trade – their spirits rise when 4:30 pm comes around as they search for customers to buy their goods or services.

As well as selling tickets, some street sellers provide additional services beyond selling tickets. They may sell food or other items at their stalls; provide medical treatment; housecleaning; or serve as escorts when lottery winners collect their prizes.

As soon as your lottery ticket arrives, keep it clean and dry in an undisclosed place until it is time to claim your prize. A valid passport or ID card may be necessary as proof of identity when collecting it; you have up to 30 days from its delivery to claim your prize before its worthless.

If you win the first prize of 57 Million VND (US$3,300), eligibility requirements include having a valid ticket without tears or stains as well as being a citizen of Vietnam with bank account and bank statements to support this claim. Your prize can also be paid out as a lump sum so as to save time traveling abroad to collect it; alternatively it can be sent directly to one or more banks/financial institutions in Vietnam for collection.
