Hanoi Lotto – Vietnam’s Most Popular Gambling Game

Hanoi Lotto is an engaging gambling game in Vietnam that generates funds for social causes and infrastructure development while creating jobs and uniting people together. But this shouldn’t be done irresponsibly – read on for more insight into this popular Vietnamese gambling pastime!

Vietnam is home to 63 provincial lottery companies run by the government, each selling tickets at VND10,000 (50 US cents). Proceeds go straight to the public treasury and used towards funding initiatives such as healthcare services across Vietnam as well as public services throughout its provinces. Lottery tickets can be found for sale in many local stores and supermarkets while advertisements appear regularly in local media such as television, radio and newspaper articles.

Lotterie results are announced every day, with the top prize totalling VND2 billion (around $88,000). Second place winner receives VND1 million while third-place prizewinner takes home VND500,000. Special prizes are given out to ticket holders who correctly predict all six numbers.

Traditional lottery companies in Vietnam have increased top prizes by one-third to compete with Vietlott, the computerized national lottery company that has quickly become popular across southern Vietnam. The move marks part of a larger push to expand gambling in southern Vietnam as Vietnam emerges from an economic depression and manufacturing output surges; household incomes rise accordingly and entertainment expenditure rises significantly – including lottery games!

Tickets are sold across Vietnam, but especially so in Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City where hundreds of lottery sellers roam the streets selling “lucky tickets” for mere pennies each. Many cannot work due to disability or old age and need another source of income; selling lottery tickets may be their only means of survival; with no unemployment benefit or pension available to them, selling lottery tickets may be their only way of making some extra cash.

Over time, lottery ticket designs have evolved drastically over time – from basic formula to intricate postcard-like creations. Some older lottery tickets feature Vietnamese, Cambodian, and French writing as a nod to historical ties between Vietnam and its neighbors; others can feature picturesque sights, flowers or buildings; some even bear messages about saving the environment!

Malaysian conglomerate Berjaya recently introduced Mega 6/45 lottery, which will be sold through Vietlott agencies located throughout cities and provinces that have signed contracts with it. Berjaya also plans to introduce various other lotteries soon – such as sports lotteries.
