Hanoi Lotto – Vietnam’s Most Popular Game

Hanoi Lotto is an iconic Vietnamese game where bettors attempt to match numbers to win prizes. While its roots date back centuries, its place remains prominent today. Although chances of success may be slim, playing Hanoi Lotto can still provide an enjoyable and profitable way to spend time with friends while having some fun gambling! Before playing Hanoi Lotto for real, be sure you are familiar with its rules and any potential scams or con artists – knowing these details beforehand will increase your chances of winning big!

Vietnam is home to many lottery ticket sellers who rely on this industry despite its meager returns, working long hours and covering large distances to sell lottery tickets for a living. Due to low pay in Vietnam and no social security benefits available for them, they often struggle to support their families financially; yet these individuals remain determined in helping out their fellow countrymen and women.

Even with its challenges, many Vietnamese still enjoy participating in lottery gaming. There are over 30 licensed lotteries across Vietnam offering various types of lotterie games as well as selling lottery tickets and related services. Furthermore, these companies work tirelessly to increase revenue through increasing top prizes or offering other benefits designed to draw in customers.

Government initiatives have introduced several games designed to encourage more people to participate in lottery. One such game is Mega lottery, offering a top prize of VND2 billion which surpasses current top prizes of VND1.2 trillion. Designed specifically to attract female lottery players (who make up most of them in Vietnam), Mega lottery should attract even more female participants and increase sales.

Recent months have witnessed traditional lottery companies reporting declining revenues and profits. Ho Chi Minh City-based Hau Giang Lottery reported an 18% drop in overall revenues and after tax profits during 2013, and blamed increased expenses during lockdown as being responsible for its poor performance.

Lottery ticket selling may be their sole source of income in countries without welfare systems, where lottery sellers may be able to earn up to 230 000 VND per day (roughly 10 US dollars), which should provide enough for their survival.

Ngoc Phung Tran of one of Vietnam’s numerous nomadic drag queen troupes takes her break between shifts at a lottery booth to check her lipstick in a small room lined with makeup and sequined dresses. Her troupe travels throughout Vietnam bringing lottery games to cities and villages; Phung is known as one of their “Stars” (Ngoi Sao). Phung works as one of these drag queens singing out lottery results while running games stalls.
