In Canada, the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation runs four nationwide lottery games: Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max (which replaced Lotto Super 7 in September 2009), Daily Grand, and Millionaire Life. The corporation is owned by the five regional lottery commissions: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut), and British Columbia Lottery Corporation (British Columbia). In addition to the four nationwide lotteries, the Canadian provinces also operate their own lotteries. Prior to 1967, purchasing a lottery ticket in Canada was illegal. That changed when the Liberal federal government passed an omnibus bill to bring up-to-date a number of obsolete laws.
