Drawings in the country’s national lottery take place three times each week, but winners are often deprived of large payouts because numbers that should be selected disappear from purchased tickets. In one case, the winning number 509 disappeared from tickets sold throughout a day of the lottery drawing on Oct. 14 after buyers sought to purchase tickets with the number, a source in the capital of Vientiane told RFA’s Lao Service.
