Online lottery games are a popular and fun way to try your luck at winning the next big jackpot! But before you play, it’s important to understand how the game works. We’ll guide you through the process from start to finish so that you can make an informed decision about whether or not playing the lottery is right for you.
In the communist state of Laos, the national lottery has become a source of corruption with lottery officials rigging drawing results to avoid large pay-outs, sources in the country tell RFA’s Lao Service. The numbers used in the national lotteries regularly disappear from purchased tickets and are deemed unlucky by those buying tickets, one source said. For example, on Oct. 14, the number 509 appeared only as a five on ticket purchased throughout the day of the lottery drawing, while it appeared as a nine 10 minutes before the draw was to be made.
The companies responsible for the lottery’s work also include private business interests with close ties to the country’s ruling elite, another source told RFA. He said the government should resume control of the national lottery because private business interests “can’t be responsible for the national lottery because the drawings can’t be trusted.” The government can also ensure that the winnings are distributed fairly to all players. In addition, the WLA members commit to work with governments, non-governmental organizations, regulators, researchers, public health professionals and the general public to promote responsible gaming as widely as possible.
