In Laos, the state-owned Société Lao Lottery operates the country’s national lottery. In recent years, however, allegations have surfaced that the company is rigging the system to avoid large pay-outs. Sources tell RFA’s Lao Service that drawing results often show numbers that do not appear on purchased tickets or are deemed unlucky. As a result, some buyers have stopped buying the ticket. The company has denied the allegations.
