The office of the prime minister recently sent a directive requesting that the Ministry of Finance, which oversees the nation’s legal state lottery, work with the Ministry of Public Security to better manage the problem, sources told RFA’s Lao Service. The directive also calls for the number of drawings to be reduced from two to one per week and for a more transparent handling of winnings. The directive did not specify when it would be implemented.
