Lottery for Arts is a fundraising event designed to give art enthusiasts the opportunity to acquire unique high-value artworks from Blue Line Arts while supporting our education and outreach programs. Proceeds from the lottery are used to support artist and community projects and provide scholarships for students and emerging artists. This event is free to enter and tickets can be purchased at any Blue Line gallery, by phone or online. To win an artwork, ticket holders must be present at the auction to have their number drawn. Alternatively, the winner’s name can be called and artwork claimed via proxy, provided it has been established in advance with the gallery.

These are administered by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, a consortium of five regional lottery commissions owned by their respective provincial and territorial governments: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), and Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut).
A Lao state official speaking on condition of anonymity told RFA that private business interests with connections to the country’s ruling elite are responsible for running the national lottery. The official said he hopes the national government will regain control of the lottery. “Private business interests should not be responsible for the national lottery because they can’t be trusted,” he said.
