The Oregon Powerball jackpot winner, Cheng Saephan, told reporters at the news conference that he is taking his half of the prize, or $621 million before taxes, with his wife Duanpen and her friend Laiza Chao, who chipped in $100 to buy a batch of tickets with them. The couple has chosen to receive the lump sum payment rather than an annuity paid over 30 years.
