The Lottery for Arts is a fundraising event that allows art enthusiasts the opportunity to purchase artworks by professional and emerging artists. Proceeds support the gallery’s education and outreach programs. Lottery tickets can be purchased through our staff members or online. The name entered on the ticket must be that of the person who will be called during the live lottery to make their selection at the event. Each Lottery ticket is valid for one work of art from the Lottery Section.

For example, on Oct. 14 this year, the number 509 appeared only as a five on tickets sold throughout the day of the drawing. Access to the number was restored only an hour before the drawing.
New Zealand: The government runs the Lotto through an autonomous Crown entity, Lottery New Zealand (Lotto NZ), which distributes the profits to charities and community organizations. The Lottery Grants Board has allocated some funds to Sport and Recreation New Zealand, Creative New Zealand and the Film Commission. The state-owned New Zealand Lottery has four games: the Lotto, Powerball, Keno and Instant Kiwi scratch cards. In addition to the national lottery, the country’s provincial and territorial lotteries offer a variety of other games.
The Lottery in Liechtenstein: The Liechtenstein National Lottery (German: “Lotterie Liechtenstein”) is run by the International Lottery Foundation (ILLF), a charitable foundation. The ILLF pioneered Internet gaming, launching the world’s first online lottery in 1995. It also operates a series of websites that feature a wide variety of lottery-related games. ILLF lottery profits are used to support charitable projects both domestically and internationally.
Canada: In 1967, the federal Liberal government introduced a special law known as an Omnibus Bill that sought to bring up-to-date many obsolete laws. This included an amendment permitting provincial/territorial governments to operate lotteries. Today, Canada has four nationwide lotteries: Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, Daily Grand and Millionaire Life.
Lottery games are legal in Canada and are operated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, a consortium of the five regional lotteries: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, Yukon and Northwest Territories) and British Columbia Lottery Corporation (British Columbia). The national lottery also offers a variety of other games including the Mega Millions and the Super Draw.
