Lotteries are a form of gambling that involves the drawing of numbers for a prize. These games are popular around the world and can be played for both small and large amounts of money. Lotto draws take place every week and there are four games available: the Lotto, Keno, Bullseye and Instant Kiwi.

There has been controversy over the legality of a voluntary tax on lottery winnings in Quebec City. The Minister of Justice argued that this “voluntary tax” was a lottery and contravened federal laws, while the mayor of Montreal maintained that it did not. Ultimately, the federal Supreme Court ruled that the municipal tax did not violate the Constitution of Canada.

The lottery is a fundraising event for Blue Line Arts and provides a unique opportunity to acquire an original work of art while supporting the education and outreach programs of the gallery. Tickets are sold online and in person at the event. Winners must be present to claim their artwork. If you are unable to attend the live event, you may set up a proxy with the gallery in advance. Prizes valued up to $25,000 (less offsets and obligations) will be paid by check on the day of the event. Prizes over $25,000 will be paid by mail.
