In Canada, the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation administers four nationwide lotteries: Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max (which replaced Lotto Super 7 in September 2009), Daily Grand and Millionaire Life. The corporation is made up of five regional lottery corporations owned by the provinces and territories: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), and Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut).
The national lottery in Laos is run by the state-owned company Société de Loterie du Laos. Private business interests are also involved in the national lottery, and there have been allegations of corruption. One caller to RFA’s Lao Service suggested that privatization of the lottery could lead to a lack of transparency and integrity in its drawings.

For many poor Vietnamese people, selling lottery tickets is the only way they can make money. On a good day, they can make up to 230,000 VN-Dong (10 US-Dollars). Their social security systems are not yet capable of supporting them. Nonetheless, they choose to sell tickets over the socially detested act of begging. Some sellers have a very difficult time, especially single mothers.
