Lao Finance Minister Bounchom Ubonpaseuth recently told lawmakers that illegal lotteries based in foreign countries like Vietnam and other Southeast Asian nations are being sold online, with some sites offering as many as four lucky draws per day. He says his ministry is tackling the issue, but it’s difficult because of the nature of the activity that takes place online. He says the country needs to invest in a system that would allow authorities to trace those involved in the illegal online selling of lotteries.

Dokkeo, who won the prize money, said she will share the money with her family and spend some of it on travel — “South Korea, Japan, Vietnam. I want to see the world.”
