Lottery online is a burgeoning sector of the Internet gaming industry. These sites operate legally and offer a wide variety of lottery-style games. According to Lao officials, business interests with a stake in the national lottery manipulate the winning numbers in order to avoid large pay-outs. During the most recent lottery drawing, for instance, the winning number 509 mysteriously vanished from purchased tickets.
Officials from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office have announced that they will be launching an online version of their popular lottery game E-Lotto, making it possible for Filipino workers abroad to participate in the draw. The move is expected to boost the prize pool and encourage more people to bet on the game, potentially catalyzing a boom in bets at physical lotto outlets. In addition, PCSO chief Ferdinand Robles says the e-lottery will help to boost the market share of the national lottery.
