The Lottery Act in the US requires all state-licensed lottery operators to offer games that are “fair, honest, and impartial”. Lotteries must be conducted by a professional operator who is registered with a federal or state regulatory body. The act also prohibits the sale of tickets on the Internet, though some state-licensed operators have established websites to sell lottery products online.
Despite these restrictions, many people do play online lotteries. In fact, GTech Corporation in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, administers 70% of worldwide online lottery games. In addition to traditional lottery-style games, many online lotteries offer sports and casino games.
