Lottery Online

Lottery Online is the business of buying and selling lottery tickets over the Internet. It is a growing industry with many companies competing for market share, including US-based GTech Corporation which claims to administer 70% of worldwide online and instant lottery games. Lottery Online is legal in some jurisdictions, but others have strict gambling laws that prohibit it. Some private enterprises have been able to capitalize on this market, providing software and other services to support lottery play. These businesses usually charge a premium on base lottery prices.

In the United States, state governments operate the largest lotteries, but the federal government does not regulate the lottery. In addition to the national Powerball lottery, there are also state-run lotteries in Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as the Multi-State Lottery Association, a nonprofit organization that oversees all multistate lottery games. Most American states offer a variety of games, including scratch-offs, drawing-based games, and online games such as Keno, the Big Game, and Powerball.

Canada has four national lotteries: Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max (which replaced Lotto Super 7 in September 2009), Daily Grand, and Millionaire Life. These are operated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, a consortium of the five regional lottery commissions that each manage the lottery for their respective provinces or territories: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), and Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Yukon, and British Columbia).

PORTLAND, Ore. — Cheng Saephan wore a broad smile and a blue sash emblazoned with “Iu Mien USA” as he hoisted an oversized check for $1.3 billion earlier this month, winning the largest jackpot prize in U.S. history. The 46-year-old immigrant’s win — a lump sum of $422 million after taxes, which he and his wife will split — has drawn attention to the Iu Mien, a southeast Asian ethnic group that originated in China. During the Vietnam War, Iu Mien farmers helped CIA forces disrupt the Ho Chi Minh Trail that the North Vietnamese used to send supplies and troops into South Vietnam.

Gambling is illegal in Laos, but there are Special Economic Zones throughout the country where land-based casinos can operate legally. The casinos accept players from Laos and offer some of the most popular casino games. Additionally, a number of online casinos accept players from Laos and allow them to play without risking any legal issues. The profits from these casinos are distributed to charities and community organizations across the country.
