Lottery Online

Lottery online is a website where people can play lottery games online, allowing them to participate in a number of different lotteries around the world. These websites are operated by companies that are licensed to sell lottery tickets, and some of them also offer other types of gambling. These sites have grown in popularity as the Internet has become more accessible, especially with the advent of smartphones that have the ability to connect people to the internet at any time and from almost anywhere. These sites can be used on a computer, smartphone or tablet, and many of them have a mobile version that allows players to access their favorite games at any time.

In Canada there are four national lotteries: Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, Daily Grand and Millionaire Life. They are operated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, a consortium of the five regional lottery commissions, which are owned by their provincial/territorial governments: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, Yukon Territory) and British Columbia Lottery Corporation (British Columbia). The Quebec City municipal government has its own lotteries as well.

There are a number of lottery online companies that operate internationally, most of which have their headquarters in the United States. GTech Corporation, headquartered in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, administers 70% of worldwide online and instant lottery business, according to its website. The company also operates a network of brick-and-mortar lottery stores and offers online services for the US Powerball, Mega Millions, California Lottery, Illinois Lottery and other state lotteries.

In Laos, the state lottery is controlled by a group of private business interests with connections to the ruling elite, according to RFA’s Lao service. A source who requested anonymity told the program that these business interests “should not be responsible for the national lottery because they cannot be trusted to carry out its work transparently.” The deputy finance minister and state lottery supervisor Sila Viengkeo was quoted as saying that the Aug. 17 directive requesting that drawings be reduced from two to one per week and that winnings be handled more transparently would be enforced. But the directive does not specify a date for when these changes will take effect.
