The legal state lottery enterprise runs the only regulated and legal lotteries in the country, but illegal operations offering multiple lucky draws each day have grown rapidly, Finance Minister Bounchom Ubonpaseuth said recently. In addition to reducing the number of official lotteries from four times a week to two, he has ordered the Ministry of Finance to regulate and address these unlawful activities by introducing systems that can trace and identify operators.
