The rigging is especially evident during the national lottery’s drawings, which occur three times each week. For example, a winning number in the drawing held on Oct. 14 this year—09—was not printed on the tickets sold throughout the day of the drawing, a source told RFA’s Lao service.
When the winner was announced, she said her family was her first priority and that she planned to spend some of the money on traveling to South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and other exotic locales. She also said she would purchase a new home and provide for her children’s tuition.
