For example, the number 09 disappeared from tickets for the Oct. 14 drawing after a large number of buyers sought to purchase tickets including that number, a Lao player told RFA’s Lao Service.
A Finance Ministry official who serves on the committee that oversees the national lottery said the steering committee is considering reducing the frequency of drawings to one time per week in an attempt to deter the alleged shenanigans. However, he emphasized that blocking some numbers or refusing to sell others was not within the committee’s purview.
