Lao state officials have rigged the country’s national lottery to avoid large pay-outs, sources tell RFA’s Lao Service. For example, on Oct. 14 this year, the number 509 was displayed only as a five on tickets sold throughout the day of the drawing, while a “random number” 09 appeared on many other ticket holders, a source said.

BCorp’s Vietnamese partner, Vietlott, earned a record VND40.1 billion in revenue within eight months after it opened. Its initial achievements have boosted the company’s reputation. But some questions have been raised about the structure and the actual role of businesses that take part in the project.
