Lottery Online in Thailand

Lottery online is one of the fastest growing forms of gambling in Thailand. It is available to players who can’t make it to the bi-monthly lottery draws in person. There are many advantages of lottery online including bigger prizes, better chances of winning, credit purchases and the convenience of playing on the go. However, there are a few things to consider before deciding to play lottery online.

The lottery is one of two forms of legalised gambling permitted in Thailand. It is run by the Government Lottery Office (GLO). Tickets are sold by national wholesalers known as brokers, who sell them to Thailand’s 14,760 registered retail vendors who then sell them to the public. The GLO also runs a national lottery call centre to assist with inquiries.

Each ticket is printed with a number of anti-counterfeiting features. The verso of the ticket includes a schedule of prizes and ancillary information. In addition, a drawing machine is used for each draw. A designated “Draw Chairman” randomly selects a colored ball to determine the order of lesser prize draws. These are yellow for the 2nd prize, pink for the 3rd prize, green for the 4th prize, and blue for the 5th prize. The number of digits required to win each prize is displayed above the ticket number.

Choosing the right numbers is an art form in itself. Some people consult ghostly shrines to find their lucky numbers, while others use birthdays of family members or messages from the cosmos disguised as ordinary events. Regardless of which method you choose, there are no guarantees that you will win. In fact, a man in Minnesota once won the lottery with only one ticket.

While you can’t beat the odds, there are a few people who have taken gambling to a professional level. One such gambler is an Australian named Zjelko Ranogajec, who started out heading a blackjack counting team in Tasmania. Now, he bets on everything and anything, but only makes about 1% of his overall turnover.

Director Prueksa Amaruji has a different take on the lottery in his new movie, The Lost Lotteries. This Thai comedy debuted today and tells the story of a group of down-on-their-luck strangers who come together to retrieve their winning lottery tickets from a mafia gang headquartered in a firecracker factory. The film is a laugh fest, but it also points out the absurdities of our modern world.
