Despite their age differences, Huong and Manh share the same dream: to make enough money so they can afford to buy a house someday. On good days, they sell 250 tickets and make a profit of about $11 each. But in bad times, they sell only 180 and lose $6 each day.

Laos’ national lottery has been plagued by allegations of corruption, including manipulation of winning numbers.
