These games are operated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, a consortium of five regional lottery commissions owned by their respective provincial/territorial governments: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), and Western Canada Lottery Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Yukon).
Two Vietnamese customers will share a record-breaking jackpot in the Vietlott lottery, after Thursday’s drawing. The winners, whose names have not been released, purchased tickets in Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. The winnings are worth around VND314.1 billion, or US$12.4 million. The lottery has become a major revenue generator for the Vietnamese government, and the country’s lottery industry is considered a national industry. Its profits are divided between the state and local government, and community organizations. Nevertheless, some critics have raised concerns about the lottery’s financial sustainability.
