Finance Minister Bounchom Ubonpaseuth recently reported to a meeting of the National Assembly that illegal sales of foreign lotteries are taking place throughout Thailand, according to Finance Minister Ubonpaseuth. To combat these illegal operations he ordered relevant ministries to investigate and take necessary actions against these operations; additionally he has requested them create an online tracking system so as to trace and identify those selling these lotteries online, and asked that this issue be subject to law making processes by passing an appropriate bill through National Assembly.

As illegal lotteries continue to be sold in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and even Republic of Korea. The National Assembly recently authorized police raids and seizures of computers of those selling lottery games; however no convictions have yet been handed down.
