Laos is a small nation in Southeast Asia bordered by Thailand, Burma and China. After the Allied invasion of Vietnam in 1967, the southwestern portion of Laos became part of the United States-Vietnam War Zone. The American-installed North Vietnamese regime in Hanoi fought to retain its territory, but the war ended with the reunification of Vietnam in 1975.
In Canada, prior to 1967 it was illegal to buy a ticket on the Irish Sweepstakes. In that year, the federal Liberal government introduced a special law (an Omnibus Bill) intended to bring up-to-date a number of obsolete laws. Pierre Trudeau, the Minister of Justice at the time, sponsored the bill. On September 12, 1967 he announced that his government would insert an amendment concerning lotteries. As a result, Canada currently has four nationwide lotteries: Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max (which replaced Lotto Super 7 in September 2009), Daily Grand, and Millionaire Life. The four lotteries are operated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, a consortium of five regional lottery commissions owned by provincial and territorial governments: Atlantic Lottery Corporation (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador), Loto-Quebec (Quebec), Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Ontario), and Western Canada Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut). Each of these operates its own independent website. These websites offer a variety of games, including instant tickets, keno and video lottery terminals. Moreover, they also offer a wide range of promotions. Those who play regularly can take advantage of these promotions to increase their chances of winning. Some of these promotional offers may require the player to register with the lotto website or download an app in order to participate. Then the player must verify their identity and provide some basic information, such as their date of birth and name.
