Vietnamese Lottery Online

A lottery is a game of chance or skill in which participants win a prize based on the drawing of numbers. Often, the prize is a cash sum or goods. However, other prizes may be annuities or other financial products such as insurance. Lottery games can also be played for charity. The earliest known lottery dates back to the Chinese Han dynasty, when a number was drawn from a bag to finance government projects. In modern times, lottery draws are often held via television or the Internet. The first online lotteries were created in the 1990s.

The prize money for the lottery can be a fixed amount of cash or goods, but more commonly it is a percentage of ticket sales. The percentage is determined by the organizers of the lottery and will be published in advance to attract players. The higher the percentage, the more attractive the lottery becomes to players. Often, the prize fund will be distributed amongst several winners.

In some jurisdictions, the prize money is a lump sum, while in others it is paid in annual installments over a certain period of time. In the United States, for example, there are a few lotteries that offer annuities. The annual payments are typically for 20 to 30 years, and the total payout at the end of the annuity period is greater than a lump-sum payment.

Despite the fact that foreign lottery websites are illegal within Vietnam, a number of local companies are offering private online gambling services. These include Momo and Zalo, which are able to provide Vietnamese players with easy and secure payment methods, including credit and debit cards (Visa and MasterCard), e-wallets (Skrill and Neteller) and direct bank transfers.

The state-run lottery Vietlott is the primary option for Vietnamese lotto enthusiasts. The site offers a wide variety of lottery games, with each ticket costing 10,000 VND. Alternatively, players can purchase lottery tickets at local stores or from street vendors. The tickets are pre-printed and each one has a different province written on it, as part of the proceeds go to that particular area. The peddlers will usually have a stack of them for you to peruse, and you can choose any number you want from the set.

The communist country of Laos has been accused of rigging its state lottery, with winning numbers mysteriously appearing and disappearing on purchased tickets. The country’s prime minister sent a directive on Aug. 17 asking the ministry overseeing the lottery to improve transparency. It also ordered the suspension of informal football lotteries and the sale of lottery chances through short messaging service. Some private business interests have a stake in the lottery, and the resulting scandal has raised public concern. Reported by Ounkeo Souksavanh and Bounchanh Mouangkham for RFA’s Lao Service.
