The Lao state office that oversees the country’s legal lottery has sent a directive asking authorities to work with local police to better manage the problem, a source in the ministry told RFA. The office is also asking that the drawing frequency be reduced and that winnings be handled more transparently. In addition, the office is attempting to stop illegal lotteries and lottery chances sold through short messaging service messages.
